Box Office Manager Job Description
Organization and Community
Founded in 1963, the Bryan Symphony Orchestra Association (BSOA) is a professional symphony located in Cookeville,
Tennessee. The BSOA, a 501(c)3 organization governed by a community Board of Directors, works in partnership with
the School of Music at Tennessee Technological University. Cookeville is a micropolitan community with a city
population of 36,000. Cookeville, and the wider Upper Cumberland region of approximately 130,000 people. The
mission of the Bryan Symphony Orchestra Association is to engage, educate, and enrich its community through the
performance of live music.
Job Description
The BSOA Board of Directors seeks a highly organized, detail oriented, flexible and efficient individual, skilled in written
communication and possessing excellent interpersonal skills. Beneficial skills include administrative experience, preferably
through work with non-profit or volunteer organizations. ​Reporting to the Operations Manager, and supporting the
Development Director as needed, the Box Office Manager shall execute tasks related to the operation of the Bryan Fine
Arts Building’s Box Office, managing Season and Individual ticket holder orders, maintaining communications between
patrons and the organization, and working as team member to ensure the successful operation of all concerts and events.
Completion of daily office tasks, such as managing emails, mail processing, phone calls and data input upkeep. The
successful candidate must be comfortable with Google Suite, Microsoft Office and Mac software. In addition, the Box
Office Manager may be cross-trained in other BSO functions, in order to fill in for the Operations Manager or
Development Director as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
ï‚§ Manage all ticket orders (online, by phone, and in person).
ï‚§ Promote season tickets, individual ticket sales, maintain communication with season ticket holders, and keep
detailed sales records.
ï‚§ Update and maintain detailed spreadsheets of contributions, sales, and mailing lists, keeping accurate and up-to-
date records of subscribers by category.
ï‚§ Create and manage the season seating chart; print and manage ticket distribution prior to concerts.
ï‚§ Assist with concert/event operation and any additional duties assigned by the Operations Manager.
ï‚§ Manage the Box Office pre-concert and on the day of the concert, as well as keep the Box Office tidy and
organized.
ï‚§ Organize and communicate with box office volunteers.
ï‚§ Oversee the operation of Will Call table and check distribution to contract musicians.
ï‚§ Organize and promote growth (everyone’s a fundraiser/everyone’s a ticket seller/everyone’s a marketer) of patron
subscriber contacts list.
ï‚§ Additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
ï‚§ Assist with the creation of the BSO Season Magazine.
Compensation
This is a part-time hourly position that offers a flexible work schedule. Some weekend and evening work will be required.
Compensation commensurate with experience.
